Hello guys I'm James stokoe winner of BBC's The Big Fish and to me fishing isn't just a hobby or sport it's a lifestyle and no matter what type of fishing we do it effects us all in the same way.

It's hard to explain to non anglers that nothing quite come close to the feeling it gives us when we catch something and this is one of the many reasons why we need to get more people into angling.

To secure the future of angling we need to look to the kids of today as they hold the key to our beloved sport. Fishing is now more accessible than ever and with no licence needed for kids under 12 there is no excuse not to take them, it's not just the fishing element it's the fresh air and learning about wildlife and nature and gets them off that Xbox and PlayStation!

If my dads friend had never taken me fishing that day when I was 13 I wouldn't be where I am today having had the experience of a life time last year travelling to the most amazing locations around the world and winning The Big Fish!

You don't have to have endless experience or be the best angler in the world to go fishing or enjoy it but when you do try it you will never look back so why not get your friends and family together get a licence and go fishing! Tight lines
